About Short Storyverses
Short Storyverses is a constellation of storytelling podcasts—classic, original, and timelessly imaginative. It brings together three beloved series under one universe of narrative delight: Litreading, Readastorus, and New Tales Told.
It all started with Litreading, a personal experiment turned public passion. Frustrated by the terrible quality of of classic stories narration online, Don McDonald began breathing new life into forgotten gems—recording them with warmth, clarity, and a conversational tone that made even century-old tales feel alive again. The result was a podcast that quietly found its place in the ears of tens of thousands of story lovers around the world.
From there, Readastorus hatched—because if adults love great stories, why not kids too? With a little help from a time-traveling dinosaur narrator called the Readastorus– as in read a story to us (voiced, of course, by Don), the show introduced young listeners to classic children’s tales, bringing humor and heart to bedtime and car rides alike.
Then came something new. Literally. New Tales Told emerged from Don’s rediscovery of his own storytelling voice—stories that didn’t just echo the classics, but stood beside them. Thoughtful, surprising, sometimes unsettling, these original works proved that the storyteller wasn’t just a narrator anymore. He was an author.
Together, these three shows form Short Storyverses—a galaxy of stories past, present, and imagined. Whether you’re diving into a Poe mystery, sharing a tale with your kids, or discovering an eerie original set in the Montana Territory, it’s all here. One channel. One storyteller. Many worlds.
About Don
Don McDonald is a veteran broadcaster, voice actor, and lifelong lover of stories. Best known as the co-host of the long-running Talking Real Money podcast and radio show, he’s spent decades behind the mic—educating, entertaining, and occasionally instigating. Don’s voice has been heard nationally on NPR, commercial radio, and in countless voiceover projects, but his deepest joy comes from telling a good story well. He lives in Celebration, Florida, where he spends too much time tweaking audio, reworking scripts, and trying not to start another podcast.
